Communicative Hindi

This course is aimed primarily at the expatriate community, who find themselves handicapped in India because they do not know Hindi. The emphasis is on enabling students to acquire basic proficiency in spoken and written Hindi to make it easier for them to go about their daily lives.

At present, we offer only a basic level course, aimed to equip expats with the skills needed to converse with vendors and read signage. However, if students so desire, we will introduce courses for higher proficiency levels.

As in the case of Communicative English, the Institute focuses on all key language skills. The course is only for adult learners.

Communicative English

Excellent communication skills in English have become critical to success in life. Since English is the language of international business, one's ability to communicate well in English often makes the difference between success and failure. For the many expatriates from non-English speaking countries, daily chores that involve interacting with locals become onerous because they lack English language skills.

The courses are highly interactive with plenty of opportunity to practice all four language skills to enable students to communicate comfortably and confidently in English. Our aim is to help students to

• Acquire proficiency in all key language skills - listening, reading and comprehension, speaking and writing
• Be able to converse fluently in the language
• Improve vocabulary and pronunciation
• Write clearly and effectively, and
• Gain confidence and improve their personality

Students are provided with study material that includes books and audio CDs.

We admit only students who have completed at least their higher secondary studies. All students are expected to take a test to determine their current proficiency level. This helps us tailor the course to meet the student's needs.

Business Communication

This course is aimed at those who are already working but find their progress blocked because they lack some of the communication and soft skills that are expected in corporate offices. These include skills such as how to hold meetings; write emails, letters and reports; make presentations and handle clients, all of which are necessary components of professional competence today. There is a good reason why these skills are demanded by corporates today - poor and ineffective communication can mean loss of business.

The course is open to both working professionals as well as to those wanting to enter the job market.  Students opting for the course have to be fluent in English. All candidates are expected to take an English language proficiency test to enable us to assess whether they have the necessary language skills for this course.

The Institute of Business Communication and Languages (IBCL) specializes in enabling our students to acquire the language proficiency needed to communicate effectively. Our highly skilled faculty uses interactive teaching methods to ensure that, at the end of their course, students can use the language effectively outside the classroom. In particular, we offer courses in English (to expatriates from non-English speaking countries) and Hindi (to expatriates only) to make it easier for them to manage their daily chores, a task they find difficult in India because they lack the needed language skills.

Originally called the English for Specific Purposes Academy before being registered under its current name in June 2007, the Institute initially began with onsite delivery of courses at various institutions and colleges. The Institute of Integrated Learning in Management at Lodhi Road and Gurgaon, the Janki Devi Memorial college, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation are among the institutions for which we have conducted courses. Besides, the institute has also conducted courses and workshops on effective writing and presentation skills for companies. The curricula for courses and the delivery mode (training workshops, regular courses) were developed in consultation with the organizations we serviced.

The Institute has now moved away from on-site teaching and conducts classes at the premises of the Instituto Hispania at D-59, Hauz Khas, though we continue to take on on-site training and teaching contracts. Our students include a large number of expatriates from non-English speaking countries as well as Indian students, a combination that makes learning at the institute a truly multi-cultural experience for our students.

Editing Services

IBCL also offers editing services, including editing of books, academic writing and business documents. However, we do not edit any material that relates to the scientific fields, works of fiction or technical documents.

Further, on a matter of principle, we do not accept editing of dissertations or theses that are to be submitted to an educational institution for evaluation.

The editing team is headed by a former journalist with a postgraduate degree in Economics and several years of experience working with leading newspapers in the country.
